One thing is certain, the iPhone has left a huge mark on the cell phone industry. In fact, it is easily the most popular smartphone in use today, and it has been for quite some time. In the early days, almost every iPhone had a 3.5 inch screen and weighed somewhere between 4 and 5 ounces. Of course, every iPhone operates on the iOS operating system, which many people prefer over the Android operating system. The earliest iPhone of note was the iPhone 3, followed by the 3s. This same pattern followed all the way through the iPhone 6 and today, the iPhone 6 Plus is available. Below, you can find out more information about all of these phones and you can also see how they have progressed from one model to the next.
The iPhone 3G had a 3.5 inch screen, as previously mentioned. It also featured a 320x480 display. This was considered to be an outstanding display at the time. Even though many people would consider this particular model to be seriously outdated in today's world, it was state of the art at the time that it was manufactured. It has been discontinued for quite some time, but there are still some people that use this phone on a regular basis.
iPhone 3G s-
The iPhone 3s was essentially an upgrade to its predecessor. Its overall size and display were exactly the same, but it came with more battery life and a better camera. It also had far more memory for storage. Perhaps the biggest difference between the two is that the 3s was much faster than its predecessor, allowing it to process information in a fraction of the time that was required for the iPhone 3G.
Big changes were on the horizon with the iPhone 4. In an innovative design strategy, the frame of the phone also served as its antenna. This was something that was literally unheard of at the time. Furthermore, this was the first iPhone to feature a camera both on the front and on the back. It also incorporated Facetime, which its predecessors had not accomplished.
Even though the 4s was essentially an upgraded version of the iPhone 4, it came with a lot of different things that were not featured on the previous phone. For example, it had a voice command system, better known as Siri, along with things like iCloud, notifications, a special section for reminders and Twitter. It also featured an 8 megapixel camera that was able to take better and more accurate photographs than any of the previous iPhones.
The iPhone 5 was considered by many to be far superior than the 4s. It featured a 4 inch screen with improved battery life that resulted in the ability to talk longer without having to charge the phone. It was also the first phone to feature 4G LTE, bringing WiFi to iPhone users all over the world.
The 5s is nothing short of outstanding. It actually incorporates a fingerprint identity sensor that allows you to gain access to your phone without having to type in a password. Thanks to the sensor, it denies access to everyone else. This technology is very new and it is the most interesting thing about this particular model, without a doubt.
The iPhone 6 is a clear advancement from the other iPhones, so much so that it actually starts to take a detour from the way the previous models were made. While many of the characteristics of the iPhone largely remained the same for a number of years, the iPhone 6 takes things to new extremes by incorporating a 4.7 inch screen and 128 GB of storage. It also features a faster processor and a better battery that allows for 14 hours of talk time without having to recharge the phone.
iPhone 6 Plus-
For anyone that thinks the iPhone 6 is as good as it gets, the iPhone 6 Plus kicks things up even more. It has a 5.5 inch screen and a whopping 24 hours of talk time on a single battery charge. It also incorporates a better camera that is able to achieve more detailed photographs even in low light. However, it has a massive design so for anyone that wants to be able to keep their smartphone in their pocket, this probably is not a good option.
The iPhone will undoubtedly continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the cell phone industry. Fortunately, the company is currently offering phones that are supersized as well as the standard size cell phones that people can purchase if they do not want to carry a cell phone that is practically the size of a small tablet. Whatever the case may be, these phones are still far superior to virtually anything else available on the market.
The humble beginnings of what was to become one of the largest corporations in history started on 4/1/19. Three partners, Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs, and Ronald Wayne, established The Apple company to sell The Apple I, a personal Computer kit which was designed and hand-manufactured exclusively by Steve Wozniak. It was introduced to the world via The Homebrew Computer Club and was sold as a motherboard along with a CPU, RAM, and The most basic textual video chips. Today, this is not even considered to be a complete computer. The Apple I went on the market in July 1976 and was sold for $666.66.
On January 1, 1977 Apple became incorporated, sans Ronald Wayne. Wayne had sold his shares in Apple back to Jobs and Wozniak for $800. During The first five years in business, Apple revenues doubled every four months, marking an average growth rate just at 700%.
Wozniak then created The Apple II. It was presented at the first West Coast Computer Faire on April 16, 1977. Unlike its competition, The Commodore PET and The Tandy TRS-80, The Apple II boasted character cell-based color graphics as well as open architecture. The Apple I had used regular cassette tapes for storage; with The new Apple II came The introduction of a floppy disk drive and interface called The Disk II. The Apple II was chosen to be the desktop Computer platform for the first "killer app" of the business world, a spreadsheet program called VisiCalc. The addition of VisiCalc catapulted The Apple II to The number one spot, far ahead of Commodore and Tandy.
As The 1970s came to a close, Apple had assembled an entire production line and a full staff of Computer designers. In December 1980, Apple went public and began selling shares of stock at $22 per share. Not since The Henry Ford Company in 1956 had an IPO generated as much capital. More millionaires were instantly created by Apple than by any other company in history.
In 1984 Apple introduced The Macintosh, The very first personal Computer ever to be sold with no programming language whatsoever. Its public debut came by way of a $1.5 million commercial from director Ridley Scott which aired during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII on January 22, 1984. After a strong start, its sales became less than impressive.
In 1985, following creative and personal differences with Apple CEO John Sculley, Steve Jobs left The Company and founded NeXT Inc. Improvements and updates were steadily made to The Macintosh and its subsequent models. By 1990 there was a tremendous demand for personal computers, so when the "new and much-improved" Macintosh models were introduced the public swept them up voraciously.
Fast-forward a decade or two, through steady improvements, innovations, and an ever-expanding world of technology, and every year, Apple have come out with new devices such as the Apple iPhones, the Apple Watch, ultra-slim MacBook, The iPad Air and iPad Mini, and The promise of many, many more new hi-tech gadgets to come. The latest iPhone models, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, boast 4.7" and 5.5" screens, respectively. They are available in 16GB, 64GB, and an impressive 128GB. They are thinner models than ever before, with optical image stabilization for the camera, an iPad-type Landscape mode, and longer battery life than any of its predecessors. The Apple Watch, is the latest smart device from Apple. The "smartwatch" with essentially the same features as the iPhone but in a more compact and convenient form, acts as a mild-mannered watch as well as a cutting-edge piece of technology.
When it comes to The world of Computer technology, Apple came out strong, with every intention of being an innovative force to be reckoned with, and today, nearly 40 years later, it is clear that they have no intention of slowing down.
